Purpose, implementation and sources

About this workbench

P4A is a public civic workbench and proposed movement, not a registered political party. It brings together democratic institutions, local evidence, civic tools, culture and ideas people can question, adapt or decline.

Explore evidence, compare proposals and learn from tools that make public decisions easier to question. The workbench is open to contributions and corrections; it is not a personal election campaign.

Victoria: working tools, dated evidence

The Victoria atlas covers all 88 Assembly districts and eight Council regions, 79 councils, unincorporated areas and local electoral structures. Search places, inspect current representatives, explore source-derived parliamentary seating and follow historical election and Census evidence.

The 2026 election guide contains 482 sourced candidate records across 14 affiliations, checked 2 October 2026: 407 Assembly and 75 Council. Candidate names, status and source links come first; coverage and provenance remain inspectable. Announcements and preselections are distinct from formal VEC nominations. The directory is a verified minimum, not a complete ballot.

The homepage counts calendar days to 28 November in Australia/Melbourne. The countdown updates automatically; the dated political datasets require a reviewed refresh. On election day and afterwards, its wording changes instead of showing a negative number.

Country, recognition and separate projects

The Connected projects directory explains seven reviewed connections across legal reform, voluntary contribution, local compute, AI and care, the Fair Go, women-led enterprise and cultural collaboration.

The Victoria First Peoples layer offers community-led reference links and clearly labelled public statutory recognition boundaries. Registered Aboriginal Party and settlement-agreement areas are not a national map of Country. An absence of statutory coverage does not imply absence of Traditional Owners, rights or connection.

The Australian Treaty Atlas remains its own inherited-agreements workbench. Two distinct sibling sites offer other perspectives:

  • Native Nations of the World: a global workbench for nation-led Country, protocols, rights and self-description, with its own self-onboarding.
  • P4A Oceania: regional places, relationships, political geography and shared currents.

These sites remain separate. This release does not add a national Indigenous map, speak for a nation or merge the projects.

What remains a proposal or a gap

Many wider P4A rooms describe exploratory policy, civic-ledger, contribution and constitutional ideas. They are not adopted policy or operational government services. Victoria council financial-comparison fields remain unavailable where the reviewed source could not be retrieved. Unverified candidate coverage is not evidence of absence or withdrawal; current office-holding is not proof of recontesting.

Source notes distinguish older Census and election results from the October 2026 representation snapshot. Large, exact boundary files can make the first map load slower, particularly on mobile connections.

Sources, licence and review

See the Victoria source-use register, candidate research notes, refresh log and project licence. The Strange But True Public Source Licence is not an open-source licence; source-specific rights and conditions still apply. Public/non-commercial use does not remove electoral authorisation, campaign-finance or disclosure duties if the project’s role changes.

The workbench does not submit nominations, collect payments or private nominator details. Corrections should retain the source, checked date and reason for change. Repository and project maintenance.
